Throughout the years, Barbie's world expanded with evolving characters and even pregnancies. However, friends come and go, and some lesser-known pals from her past didn't stand the test of time.
As American businesswoman Ruth Handler developed her idea for what would become Mattel's iconic Barbie doll, she took some inspiration from Bild-Lilli, a German doll marketed to men.
